The new paper set, Whole Lot of Lovely has many beautiful papers in it, but my favorite is the one with the Oranges! It is so “retro Florida” in both the design and the colors. I had had this card sitting on my desk half made for a few weeks. I had all the colors and the paper picked out. I just did not know how to finish it and still show off the great DSP! Inspiration finally arrived when Brian King used this card in a post a few days ago. In fact, he repeated the card today in a post about the “Whole Lot of Lovely” DSP color combinations that you can see here. I am always thankful to other Stampin’ Up Demonstrators who share a lot!
In the inspiration card, Brian actually cut out an orange from the paper and used it as a card element. Brilliant! That is all I really needed to do to finally finish this card. And I have to say I am happy with the result. The Tranquil Tide really makes the card look retro. But at the end of this whole story, it is this pattern from the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP that makes the card! If I could just buy a ream of this design, I would! I guess being a Floridian “mis-planted” in the midwest for the time being, themes like oranges just look like home! Or it could be these oranges look a little like peaches…Georgia is my home state. I am a bit fruity in the crazy, eccentric sense. Must be due to the heat I have lived in all these years!
