Pineapple is Not Just for Cards!

This wonderful bunch of pineapple stamped images are name tags! I love doing name tags for events because I love working on a small scale. And no Stampin’ Up! event is complete without a fabulous name tag!

These were created for a recent event held by our fearless leader, Sally. She creates great Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator events in the St Louis area for any and all Demonstrators who want to come.

We spend the morning on new products and sharing ideas with each other. I know I learn a lot at those events and it is great to share and learn with others. Then we have a fabulous lunch and on to create “make & take” projects in the afternoon. So it is a full day of

The theme this year was “Luau” and that is why the Pineapple stamp was chosen for this name tag. I fussy cut a whole pile of these, believe it or not! It was too late when I realized I had not bought a die for this stamp! So I had to press on.

I stamped the Pineapple using a MISTI. This allowed me to do batches and get the ink coverage I needed. Where the inks blended somewhat, I used a bit of burlap ribbon and some thick baker’s twine to add a little decoration and hide that.

The names were printed on Very Vanilla card stock using my printer. And then I stamped over each name with one of the Thoughtful Banner stamps. Those are photopolymer, so it made it easy to line up the stamp over the names. The names were punched out using the banner duo punch.

Other than a lot of fussy cutting, these went pretty fast. Sally welcomed us with a lei when we entered the event and the Pineapple stamps worked just perfect with a lei!

Valentine’s 3-D Treat Bag

Valentines Day is almost here and it is time to start thinking about how to package up all those nice goodies you want to give away! This project used the Mini Treat Bag thinlits to create almost the entire treat bag! The banner punch, sweetheart punch and some embellishments finished it off.

With Stampin’ Up!, we have so many options for creating gift bags and containers! I don’t use all the options nearly enough. And this bag was simple and fast to do! And it looks very special for the time I put into it! Add a valentine and some treats inside and you have a truly impressive gift in no time at all!

The project uses the Pop pf Pink DSP and some Basic Black card stock and that is about it. The rest is all embellishment. I cut the rest bag using the DSP. In this thinlit set is also the cutout “for you”. I die cut that using the gold foil paper.

The gold embossed specialty paper in the Pop of Pink DSP was used to make the banner. It needed a little pop, so I added the layer of basic black with a white doily. The doily makes it look “really valentine”. Some ribbons, a punched out heart and I was done! What fun!!!

Butterfly Basics And A Beautiful Birthday!

This pretty butterfly card is comes from an idea I got in workshop the other night. I was trying to bring in a stamp set from the main catalog. So many good ones get forgotten in the excitement of an Occasions catalog that these excellent sets get forgotten. Butterfly Basics has been a favorite set from the time it was launched. I also wanted to use In Colors because I love how all the colors play together in those families and they are fun to demonstrate. I originally did the card in the design shown below. And this is the card most of my customers completed. The DSP shows all 3 In Colors I used. And it is a very pretty card as you can see below.

One of the the stampers in the workshop decided to flip her DSP over and when I saw it, I thought, now that is a WOW card! I came home and tweaked the colors a bit and the large image above is my final interpretation of that card.

I also needed a card for this week’s Global Design Challenge. And this inspired my workshop card as well. The challenge is “Case the Designer”. And it is a good one, so I highly recommend you take a look at everyone’s entry this week by clicking HERE or the image below:Design for this card was easy to come up with because the idea was easily inspired by the challenge. The centerpiece was the Stitched Framelit Circle. I seem to use the stitched framelits all the time now. I really don’t know how I lived without them! I didn’t try to stamp perfect as I like to show in a workshop, it is okay not to be perfect. Cards all have some handmade irregularities to them and this gives them charm. And with a vintage look card, having some uneven tones is perfectly fine.

Lace doilies were a complete afterthought! I happened to see one on my desk and I knew it would be perfect cut in half and layered under the circle. With vintage looks, you can layer it on and it all works. With that in mind, I added some pearls to the butterflies and decided to tie a linen thread bow on the burlap ribbon. I stopped myself there because I can really pile it on a card sometimes! And this is a workshop card and we won’t have all night!
