I know it’s ’tis the season to be jolly and I should be showing you holiday cards. But, I had a recent demonstrator challenge swap and Seaside Notions was perfect for it! The theme was “by the sea”. My card is more “in the sea”, but it definitely has that coastal look and colors. It was a nice break to stop holiday crafting for a moment and do something different.

The card is really just a collage of the stamped images colored with Stampin’ Blends. To make  it look more realistic like the sea, I used multiple colors on each stamped image to give them a watery look. The coral pieces were more than I was ready to fussy or scan & cut, so I stamped those in Smoky Slate on the background. The “sea” was created by stamping off Balmy Blue using the Birch background stamp. After stamping all the images, I embossed the background with the Subtle Textures folder. It gave everything that watery look I was after.

I loved the way it turned out. I am now encouraged to use this set and make a holiday card with it! We’ll see how that turns out!

I love the shadowbox that Stampin’ Up! created on page 46 of the Holiday Catalog using the Come To Gather DSP. So, I decided to CASE that idea and make a sampler/shadow box as part of my Thanksgiving decor.  Everything in the sampler is from the Come to Gather suite plus a little Cajun Craze and Pretty Peacock card stock. It was simple and fast to do.  And I layered everything on an 8″ x 8″ base so I could use it in a shadowbox frame I have.

I encourage you to try a few things for home decor this season. There is no rule that you only have to make cards with your card stock! And it is amazing how few supplies it took to make this sampler. And its nice to create something beautiful to look at every day during the holidays! Here’s a great example of a napkin ring you can see on page 47 of the catalog.

There are so many possibilities with your stamps sets, card stock, dies and ribbons! Try a few decor ideas or even a few tags for the holidays! I know you will love making them and giving them away. There is nothing like a homemade gift.

Really, that was true. Once I saw some cards being produced with this, I was in love! Harvest Hellos is such a simple set, but it does so much! From Halloween to Thanksgiving to Teacher’s cards, and even get well wishes, this set has it all! And there’s much more! It has a matching punch. It probably was one of the best bargains in the Holiday Catalog!

Today’s card was done for a Demonstrator Swap I was in a while ago.  I never want much die cutting to do for swaps. A punch is fine. I can happily sit and punch out shapes. So, this set was perfect for making quantities of cards.

Because out theme was Harvest/Thankgiving, I used the Come To Gather DSP as my design focus. Everything else just came together once I looked at the stamp set.

So, take a look at Harvest Hellos! Its one of the best items in the catalog because you can use it all ear round!
