So In Love With Copper Accents!

January 18, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

So In Love, So Detailed Thinlits

Copper was the big excitement when the new catalog debuted for 2016-2017. And as much as I love it, I really don’t use it enough.  Continuing my fascination with the So Detailed Thinlits, I decided to try something a little different.  I first tried die cutting a piece of copper foil paper.  But that was just too much.  Then I got the idea of die cutting a copper foiled design from the Affectionately Yours DSP.  That ended up being the perfect solution to show copper in just the right amount!

This copper foiled DSP design is really pretty on its own. But as a die cut in this design, it really takes on a whole new look.  I layered it on Soft Suede, which has been my favorite “brown” the last few projects.  Then,  I embossed the stamped sentiment with Copper Embossing Powder.  A little copper thread and a few pearls completed the look.  I kept thinking 1920’s and “Downton Abbey” while doing this card.  In fact, I think even the Dowager Countess Grantham would like this card!

Stamps: So In Love

Valentine with Sunshine Sayings

January 16, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Sunshine Sayings, Sunshine WishesIt’s time to start thinking of valentine cards!  This one uses a little valentine paper and some die cuts from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits> These coordinate with the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.

I had to do another project for a swap I’m in that required current Valentine sets that I did not have.  So, I really had to think a little outside the box to use what I had on hand.  The Sunshine Wishes Thinlets worked perfectly to convey a Valentine look!  I liked the clean and simple look of it so much, I decided to do a card as well.

I wanted to use the white die cuts, so I needed a valentine paper that would set that off.  The Sending Love DSP Stack from the new Occasions catalog provided the perfect backdrop.  And to give the red and white a little pop, I used black to frame everything up. Now, I think the hart cut-out from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits is my favorite heart design this season!

And, after uploading this image, I realize I need to change my Stamping Trimmer blades!  It amazing how you don’t see that when creating. But camera show everything!

So In Love with Pink and Brown!

January 14, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

So In Love, So Detailed, Stampin' Up!

Remember when pink and  brown were a huge color combination?  I do.  I think it was right after the Mauve & Green craze.  Pink is always a go to color when it comes to cards about love.  To make this card I started with Blushing Bride and tried a few colors with it and settled on Soft Suede. The result is a pretty card that would be great for showers, weddings or a valentine for your sweetie!

The Blushing Bride and Soft Sueded card base needed a little something when it came to cutting out the So Detailed die.  The Soft Suede was way to dark, so I tried Crumb Cake and this was perfect.  I stamped right on the center medallion of the die because I am brave. When I got the card together it looked a little plain, so I added the pearls and that was the perfect touch to finish off the card.

One of the details I like is the stitched oval acting as a frame to the die cut.  I can’t say enough good things about these stitched ovals.  They are not in a current catalog, but are a special item you will be able to order through Stampin’ Up starting January 16th.  Check out item#145372 on the 16th and see the set of 12 dies 4 each of ovals, circles and squares! It really is a must have item!
