The Party-Mobile is for #GDP023! The Global Design Project for this week is a theme project and of course the theme is balloons!!!!  You can see other balloon cards submitted this week HERE! And I encourage you to join the challenge and submit your own card.

My choice this week was limited to the balloon stamps I had on hand, which for new ones was only the Beautiful Ride Stamp set!  And matters were further complicated by the fact I did not have any of the balloon punches either!  I have rectified both my balloon stamp and punch shortage.  But for this card, I had to fussy cut all the balloons!!! But doing the cards was enough for me to fall in love with balloons and figure out with a balloon motif, you have so many types of celebrations cards you can do.  And better yet balloons are good for any age!

I did a few balloon cards, but this little cutie won out for my choice to enter in the challenge. I love the car in this set. I haven’t used it nearly enough.  And when I stamped tho car on the Cherry on Top DSP that looks like cupcake sprinkles, I thought to myself, it looks like a real party car!  So out came the rotary stamp and the “Party-Mobile” was christened!

I share another balloon card with you in my next post.  This theme challenge was a lot of fun!

Today’s card was a birthday card I made for my good friend Sally for a milestone birthday she had recently!  The color inspiration came from a video Shannon West did for #BringBirthdaysBack.  It’s a great video and if you haven’t seen it and read about the “movement” to bring birthdays back, you can see it here!  There will be a stamp available soon as well so you can customize your birthday cards with the new #imbringingbrithdaysback hashtag!

The card was also a good reason to use the Swallowtail stamp.  I haven’t brought it out in a while and I really do love this stamp.  I used ink splatter stamps from the Georgeous Grunge and Perpetual Birthdays Calendar set.  I also went crazy with the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen and edged all the butterflies embossed the card as well as the Swallowtail butterfly itself.  A few rhinestones and the Lace trim and I was done!  The card is sized to fit the Swallowtail stamp and is 5.25″ x 6.25″ so I used the envelope punch board to create a custom envelope.

Well, I am not sure I can follow Shannon’s example and always mail out a card for every birthday, but this is a start and I think this is a great movement and I will certainly try!

After I finished this card, I was afraid maybe it look too much like a cabana tent.  But I love the look of Mint Macaron against black, so I decided to stick with it.  Plus with the balloons and the bold sentiment, it has a “I am happy to be poolside IN the cabana” look to it.  What started me on the design was the paper.  I just love it.  It is from the It’s My Party DSP stack.  The stripe has a clean airy look to it and I loved the challenge of doing all the layers on an angle.  I didn’t really try to match them up, but I did try to make sure they did not compete with each other.  I think it came out pretty good.  The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards set.  Again, who says the stamps that go with a set don’t have other uses! The balloons are from Beautiful Ride. I haven’t used Beautiful Ride nearly enough, but I do like the fact there are so many “small” stamps in it.  It allows you to create custom looks.

The 2-color twine in Mint Macaron and Black really set the card. Honestly I stared at the card a long time wondering what embellishment to add until “bam!” it hit me in the head the 2-color twine was the ONLY embellishment I could use! It’s funny how the simplest solutions are the hardest to arrive at!
