I love the beautiful printed papers from Stampin’ Up!® that we call DSP(Designer Series Paper)! And I love using them on most all the cards I do. While most all the DSP’s are designed to go with a particular stamp set, I don’t mind mixing DSP and stamp sets to get the look I want.  Today’s card uses the Country Woods DSP from the Country Woods Suite Collection mixed with one of the stamp sets from the Unbounded Beauty Suite Collection.

While the paper from the suite I used for the sentiment and die cuts in the Unbounded Beauty Suite are beautiful, I wanted a more homespun look for this design. This DSP from the Country Woods Suite Collection was perfect for that kind of look.  I love the light colors of the wood grain in the design of the paper and it was a great paper to set off the Boho Blue card stock.

In the new Stampin’ Up!® catalog on pages 58-73 are some new bundles that are priced very reasonably. With the set featured in today’s post, Labeled With Love, you can also choose between getting a bundle with a coordinating punch or with coordinating dies. I love that you get a choice. For me, if the choice is between a punch or dies, it will always be a punch. If you choose the dies bundle for Labeled with Love, you get three dies in the same shape, making it a great choice if you are doing bigger quantities of the same card.

For today’s card, I had this idea to use the butterfly stamp as a “paper design” and then punch those stamped images out for a card element like you see on the catalog page card samples below with the florals and gifts stamps. I thought that is brilliant way to use this set. I made the colors very bold with contrast. I also layered it over yardstick that had been embossed to add texture. I always love adding texture to a card. Its a really easy way to give a card a little more “oomph”!

I was inspired to do an airy, light Mediterranean look from the DSP and Ctrus Blooms stamp set in the Mediterranean Blooms Suite. And when you think of the Mediterranean, lemons are an iconic part of the local scenery, cuisine and imagery. All this came together in a card design I think captures the essence of the quaint and often historic sights in the coastal Mediterranean cities.

I fussy cut the lemons from a sheet of the DSP and then popped this with dimensional on a die cut from the Spotlight on Nature dies that I felt had a bit of a “Greek” motif to it. To keep the card looking rustic looking, I used a paper from the Country Woods DSP and layered it under the tiled paper designs with torn edges. The Linen Thread trim ties all the elements together. And a few of the Opal Rounds Assortment gems echoes the Lemon yellow theme of the card.

The Citrus Blooms set features lemons in the DSP and oranges in the stamp set. So, you can have your pick of citrus! For all the elements in the Mediterranean Blooms Suite, you can click on the image below for a closer look and more inspiration.
