The theme this week for the Global Design Project Challenge is Christmas! There are some absolutely fabulous ideas over there, so please check them out at the GDP.
I started out challenging myself to do a card with lots of sparkle and shine. But after a really catastrophic glitter spill, I decided I really needed to go back to what I was good at. I love bling, but I lack the significant coordination needed for glitter. Let’s just say, from a stampin’ point of view my desk is now an “epa superfund site” It could take years to abate the glitter. I will just stick with Rhinestones.
With that little episode under control, I went to my second choice… Joyful Season. I love this set. It is big, bold and looks great with rustic colors. You will notice that the inks I used are Real Red and Old Olive. These stamp so dark on the Crumb Cake that using the Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow to match the papers will make too dark an image. The lighter colors work better and pop the stamped images. And I love using a White Gel Pen to “color in snow”, even on the word Joyful.
This is also on an A6 card size, which is 4.5″ x 6.25″. The stamp set really needs a larger format in order to use a DSP in the background. And I was determined to use this particular DSP. I like the trees! And with the envelope punch board, you don’t have to worry about making an A6 card now and then. Simply create your own envelopes!
With such a large card, I could also go large on the embellishments. On an A2 size, you really would not be able to go this large a scale on embellishments, but I think it works here.
Well, back to the glitter clean-up!
