Global Design Project #016 – Botanical Garden

December 28, 2015 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Today’s card is a CASE for Global Design Project #016, which you can see HERE!  Bibi Cameron did a beautiful holiday card and the challenge is to take any part of it, design colors, etc and CASE from it.  From those who don’t know, CASE stands for “Copy And Share Everything“. which stampers do generously.  Just be generous back and give credit to whoever did the original design!  I chose to take the center circle and sentiment and apply that to a card using some of the new Botanical Garden DSP from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  This was the first time I used the Botanical Builder framelets and I have to say, I love them!  It is pure genius that someone figured out to cut layers so you can show dimension.  This opens up a lot of new possibilities for using die cuts.  I also like these framelets because it is very easy to utilize your scraps with these!  I will say that with these detailed framelets, you really need to get the Big Shot Die Brush. This new tool is a “must have” for detailed dies. The tool does an excellent job of releasing even DSP paper with no marks or tears.  I highly recommend it!

The Botanicals Garden suite was the only complete set I got on the preorder.  I loved the way it looked in the catalog and I have not been a bit disappointed.  This will be a set I can use for many different uses. The colors are bold and beautiful.

On another note, we have been “under siege” here in St Louis with non-stop rain for days.  I was almost getting ready to build an ark!  But while I was working at my desk this afternoon, an especially hard rain began and I looked out the window to see a brilliant speck of red in a tree.  I wondered what in the world that was and got up to look out the window. It was a Cardinal! Just sitting there in the pouring rain.  I took a picture and although there was too much rain and it is mostly out of focus, I wanted to share it with you.  I am saving it as inspiration for some thank you cards I need to make for holiday gifts I received. He was a brilliant and beautiful red Cardinal and pretty large.  I wish I had gotten a better picture. Enjoy!   115-1229-0308

Susan, I just love how you focused on the layout of Bibi’s card as your inspiration. This is also a great use of the Botanical Gardens suite. Thanks for joining us this week at Global Design Project.
