This card was done as a challenge for a Demonstrator group. We are a small group of Demonstrators who meet once a month, have dinner and talk shop. We set a theme for a card swap and we all leave with great new card ideas to share with customers! There is nothing better than having actual samples on hand for customers. I know myself, I get a much better idea of a stamp set or product when I see how it is used. The Stampin’ Up! catalog is great for all the samples showing those ideas, but an actual sample is something everyone always gets excited about seeing.
This month’s theme was birthdays. And being in “fall mode”, I had to do something with a fall theme as well as a birthday. Of course I waited until the last minute to do this card. And I wasn’t feeling very creative. So, I went through my Pinterest file of card layouts and found this square and rectangle design. I used the Come to Gather DSP. The Birthday sentiment is one I love from Beautiful You.
And while I love my leaves from the Gather Together stamp set in the Holiday Catalog, I wanted something like a Paper Pumpkin leaf we had a couple of years ago. This leaf from Seasonal Layers Dies was perfect! I embossed the Cajun Craze layer with Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder. I also embossed all the Mint Macaron layers too, but that was a mistake. I don’t recommend an embossed layer under an embossed layer, but I went with it! It wasn’t a terrible mistake. The Come to Gather Ribbon Combo pack was just the thing to dress it up. And this easy, simple card was done in no time!
