Here’s a card I created to celebrate the 4th of July! It uses the Light the Sky set, which sadly I had never even inked up until now. I bought it to make New Year’s cards and that plan got on the back burner. But with the 4th of July coming up, this seemed the perfect time to all out this great set and try making a card for this holiday!
I moved a little bit away from the traditional colors of Red, White and Navy and opted for Poppy Parade, Azure Afternoon and Crushed Curry. I specifically went with the Crushed Curry as my yellow because I wanted to use the “Celebrate” laser cut from the “Saying Something” ephemera pack. If you haven’t tried Stampin’ Up’s® new range of laser cut ephemera, you really need to take a look! Its part of the “Mix & Match” products on pages 18-28 in the new catalog. I have had great fun using the ephemera to add different elements and sentiments to cards. Its so fast!
As the finishing touch, I added some Crushed Curry Twine that is now retired and some of the Iridescent Discs in Poppy Parade. If you don’t have any of the Crushed Curry Twine around, white would work well. I like the non-traditional color scheme in this card and I love, love, love the stamp set. I can’t think why I did not pull it out before now. Summer is the perfect time to use this and I am sure I will find a few more birthdays and other celebrations it will work for until its time to try once again to make those New Year’s cards!

Very festive and perfect for this holiday! Maybe a wee bit of Wink of Stella to add a little more sparkle to the fireworks, but love the colors used. Happy 4th to you!

Thank you Jackie! I had thought about the Wink of Stella, but I usually cannot get it to photograph. And Hayy 4th to you as well!

I love the pops of curry on this card – it accents the red and blue so well. Such a beauty!
