I just love this simple little card. When I saw the challenge for this week’s Global Design Project #GDP018, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. And Happy Home was the first stamp set that came to mind. At first, I was going to do a circle, but once I decided to put the hearts on the bench, I really had to go for the heart frame. But any shape that would frame the stamped design would work.
I used two stamps from Happy Home and masked out the clouds so the tree would fit in. I could have left 2 of the clouds in, but I liked the clean look without them. I dappled the tree leaves with So Saffron and Old Olive just to give it some dimension. And the two hearts on the bench were done using the owl punch. They were the smallest hearts I could find! I have a silver pin that is a bench with two hearts on it and I have always loved that pin. When it came time for the sentiment, I had to go simple. And I love this phrase from the retired Good Greetings set. This is one that I wish had not retired! The color scheme is one I have always loved, Real Red and Smoky Slate. I love how red plays so well off of gray colors.
Enjoy! I am hoping to do some more Valentine’s cards soon!
