Perfectly Plaid and Gold

November 5, 2019 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Perfectly Plaid

November comes and its all about the holidays…in hyper speed! And how much more holiday can you get than Perfectly Plaid? With the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty DSP and its gold highlights plus the beautiful Shaded Spruce and Gold Ribbon, this is holiday!

Today’s card was a challenge from a Demonstrator who had cut a lot of oval frames from Gold Foil paper using the Heirloom Frames Die. This left her with a lot of oval shapes from the middle of the die cut and lots of 4″X 5.25″ pieces with a big oval cut out of the middle. While we were at a crop, she gave me a piece and asked me to figure out something to do with it. And the card above is the result!

While the die cut out the oval frame she needed for a Stamp Camp perfectly fine, the leftover pieces had some cut marks that marred the gold foil. No problem! I embossed all those with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to add beautiful texture which covered up the cut marks. The Subtle 3D folder on the gold foils makes the paper look like true metal. And adding the texture had the added benefit of matching the texture in the ribbon! I am only sorry I couldn’t photograph it well enough to show how beautiful the textured foil looks with the Perfectly Plaid Paper.

After getting the gold foil pieces embossed,  it was a matter of placing the Perfectly Paid paper so the cut out oval did not show. For the small oval, a punched out tree was the obvious choice which was layered on a piece of Shaded Spruce that had been embossed with the retired Quilt Embossing Folder. I forgot that it was retired, but you could easily use the Tufted or the Tin Tile Embossing folders. The Winter Knit Embossing Folder would be a good choice too.

Hey There, Pumpkin With Harvest Hellos

October 31, 2019 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Hey there Pumpkins! Happy Halloween! Its that spooky time of year! So, just eat drink and be scary today! ITs the one time of year you can get away with eating all the candy you want! This card was made just for the blog to wish everyone a very fun Halloween. Halloween is one of those holidays that you can just be silly and enjoy yourself. Who doesn’t like to dress up and pretend they are someone else?

This card was pretty fast and simple thanks to the Harvest Hellos stamp set and matching punch. The papers are from the Monster Bash DSP, one of Stampin’ Up’s! best Halloween paper sets ever! It features my two favorite patterns from the set. I just kept it simple with Pumpkin Pie as the focal color. I mean, what else would I use today?

I had stamped and punched out the leaves and stems stamped in black on Pumpkin Pie, but it did not have the pop I wanted. So, I just punched them out of Basics Black card stock and that gave me the pop I needed. The sentiment was die cut using an Ornate Frames die. And a few Monster Bash Enamel Shapes in black finished everything off.

Can you believe today is Halloween? This is kinda like the kick off for the big holiday season coming up! I can’t wait to start making more things for November and December! More fun on the way. And guess what? With this stamp set, I can go right into card making for Thanksgiving….not to mention teacher’s gifts and a get well card. This is one versatile set! Check out all the sentiments it has.

Enjoy your Halloween and have fun!

Gather Together for a Season of Thanks

October 29, 2019 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Gather Together

I am so in love with the Come to Gather Suite in this years Holiday Occasions Catalog. The papers are so richly colored and the designs just beautiful. I have had a fun time making cards using the stamp set and papers.

For my card today, I chose a paper that coordinated with Pretty Peacock and Early Espresso. The Gathered Leaves and In the Woods Dies were used to create a dimensional background for the sentiment. The sentiment and the larger leaf was stamped in Pretty Peacock on a woodgrain look background from the DSP. The sentiment was punched using the Everyday Label punch. You can see it doesn’t look a thing like that punch! Well, I decided to shorted it up a bit by punching each side separately. Then I did not like the rounded edges, so I just cut those off to make them squared off. It is so easy to create your own shapes using your punches. Just practice on some scrap paper and you will learn to make your own shapes!

What I love most about this suite of products is the coordination of the Pretty Peacock teal blue color with the rich, rusty  Cajun Craze. It’s a new take on Thanksgiving colors and I love how modern and fresh it feels. The first card I did with this suite captures all the colors in the suite both bright and dark, which you can see below. Click on the image or HERE! to learn what I used to make this card.

Gather Together

If you are looking for some fresh new ideas for your Thanksgiving cards, decor or table decorations, give the Come to Gather suite a look! There are so many possibilities!  Next week, I will be sharing a shadowbox sign I CASED from the design shown below from page 46 in the holiday catalog.
