Winter Woods in Sunset Colors

November 19, 2018 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Winter Woods, Nature's Poem DSPSometimes when I am stuck for a card idea, I look through my Designer Papers to see if there is a pattern to inspire me.  This card is a design inspired by the DSP pattern. The pattern had only 2 colors.  And the colors reminded me of the colors in the sunsets we have been having the past few days.

Because of the “sunset colors”, I wanted to use Winter Woods. The trees in this set remind me of the landscape right now as we move from fall to winter. We even had the first snow last week. I love the new trend of using “non-traditional” colors for holiday cards and decor. It opens up so many possibilities for creating!

Gift Tags With Tropical Chic

Tropical Chic, Stampin' Up!

I spoke about a trip I just got back from in Orlando, Florida with other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world.  As part of this trip, my Upline, Nancy and I hosted a swap.  The swap’s theme was “Tropical All Occasion”. Basically,  you could use any current stamp set with any occasion theme as long as the design was “tropical”.  When we host a swap, we give each participant a gift for joining our swap.

This year’s was a luggage tag made with the Tropical Chic stamp set, papers and die cuts!  The tags are from ClearBags.com and are large enough you can add your business card to the other side.  The idea is to attach them to your convention bag. There were thousands of us there all using the same convention bag! So, having a tag made life a little less confusing!  And of course, I made a few extra to hand out to others.

Making Christmas Bright

Making Christmas Bright, Stampin' Up!

Here’s a simple card I made for yet another swap!  Last week I was in Orlando, Florida meeting with Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from all over the world.  It was a wonderful time to meet, share and reconnect with everyone.

This swap was for a gathering of my group from Florida and my adopted group from my new home in St Louis Missouri! We call ourselves the Flo-Mo group and its wonderful to get everyone together for each Stampin’ Up! event.

I wanted to use the Making Christmas Bright Stamp set.  But I had a hard time coming up with a “contemporary look” I liked.  I decided this stamp set looked pretty vintage and tried putting it with papers and elements from the Farmhouse Christmas Suite and I think it worked!

For added interest, I used the Subtle Texture Dynamic Embossing Folder. I think this added to the “vintage look”. It is hard to see it in the image, but “texturizing” you card stock with this Embossing Folder really gives it a “stepped up” look.

You will also notice from the Products list below that while my color scheme uses darker colors, I used lighter colors of Stampin’ Blends to color in the string of lights. I do this often because the actual color is often too dark. So, I try out a few lighter colors to see what works best.
