Today’s card is one I have had in my mind a few days.  It didn’t quite come out how I envisioned it, but I like what I did get. I have wanted to use the Varied Vases set since the first time I saw it. What a little cutie this set is!  You can stamp something as fancy or simple as you like with it.  And the sentiments are very all occasion, making this stamp set a “must have” in the new catalog.

I was going to do a Lemon Lime Twist with Night of Navy color scheme just because I wanted to use the plaid ribbon. But that wasn’t working out, so I switched to the new In Color, Blueberry Bushel and that made all the difference! I popped it wth a little Lovely Lipstick, just because!  And then I added a few vases popped up for interest.  The sentiment was punches and popped up due to poor planning on my part! But I think my mistake in not stamping the sentiment before I added dimensionals to the back ended up being a good thing!

I have been talking about swaps the last few days and today’s cards are the final swaps I had for Saturday’s Demonstrator Event.  For a swap card, it meets all the requirements! It showcases current products, it is simple to produce in large quantities, and it can appeal to many levels of card makers. This card shows off the new Share What You Love Specialty DSP and Stamp Set. It is simple, but shows how the colors coordinate.  And I did 2 more versions, shown below. Often with large swaps, you have to change up the design a little so that you have enough supplies on hand to make all the cards you will need. For a large swap, this card was quick and easy to make as it had very little stamping, yet showcased the beautiful new Share What You Love Designer Paper very well.

This was my swap card design for Beautiful Day!  I used the same butterfly image that is embossed with copper and colored using the “Brusho” color crystals. The background paper is the Wood Textures DSP, which was carried over from last year’s catalog! Yea!!! The trim is the 1/4″ Copper Trim and Blackberry Bliss twine.

Most of the work on this card involved using the “Brusho” crystals.  This was the first time I have tried them out.  To get the color I wanted I used the crystals as well as a watercolor wash with Mossy Meadow ink.  You don’t have a lot of control with the “Brusho”, so you have to be prepared to have every image look different. Yesterday’s card used this technique too and you can take a look at it HERE to see the difference.
