Yes, its time to start thinking about Halloween.  October is almost here!  The Spooky Cat stamp set and matching Cat Punch are just the thing to start the season off!  Recently, I made name tags for a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator meeting and the focal piece on the card was one of the left overs.  Our meeting was all about the new Occasions Catalog and getting ready for the upcoming holiday season.  It was a great day and I enjoyed seeing other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and learning new things from them!  Many thanks to Sally Nussbaum for organizing a great day for us!  Here’s a picture of the name tags:

Because I had one left over, I decided, why not make a card?  I had been wanting to try a Halloween themed card using the Wood Textures DSP Stack.  It turned out to be the perfect backdrop for this spooky cat!  I simply layered in some Spooky Nights DSP and stamped a sentiment from Spooky Nights and I was done! The name tags were done using the cat punch and cutting out the cat from a piece of the Spooky Nights DSP.  The pumpkin is cut out from the same set of DSP. This is a fabulous idea from Stampin’ Up and I have created several projects by doing this. The leaf is from Painted Harvest and punched out using the leaf punch. Hurrah Stampin’ Up! for giving us more punches this year!

I have been wanting to use the Crafting Forever set to make a decor piece for my studio and I have finally got around to it! The DSP from Pieces & Patterns was an obvious choice and it was a lucky coincidence how well it fit into a section of another piece of DS from that set. It worked for me as the mat for the piece!

For the artwork, I simply stamped on Whisper White and colored in with Watercolor Pencils.  For the vase, I stamped on a piece of Flirty Flamingo and fussy cut to adhere over the original stamped image. It adds a lot of pop and dimension to the piece, which you can’t see.  But I was so impressed with how that turned out, I stamped and then cut out the scissor to add to the piece as well.  It seemed to balance everything out. And I loved the raised dimension. The artwork is layered on Emerald Envy.

With all the cute accessories in the Pick a Pattern Suite, it was easy to choose an Eclectic Shaped Paper Clip to Match and Tie a piece of ribbon to it. I love all the ribbons this year and I like looking at them, so I decided to add several to the piece. I find if I “have everything in sight” in my studio it helps creating. This really helps spark my creativity!

Of course, the biggest boost to my creativity is that my studio is pretty much all Stampin’ Up! Color coordination is one of the things that drew me to Stampin’ Up! and has kept me coming back for more. I know I will have the products I need to be as creative as I like.  And I can create anything from cards to home decor to gifts and favors for parties. Whatever is possible with paper is easy with Stampin’ Up!

I had been wanting to feature Lemon Zest in a card and I finally was inspired by a card a friend was creating for a class.  And because I wanted to start featuring a autumn or fall theme in all the cards I do for the next few weeks, I chose the new Wood Textures DSP as the background.  I love this new paper for its rustic look.  And I think this DSP is perfect for fall and harvest cards and decor.  The paper has rich detail and color.

The wood background turned out to be a perfect backdrop for the yellow color of the lemons. A first I thought I would have to create “limes” from this stamp set.  But I tried the yellow and I loved the look.  A neat thing about this set is that it has a matching punch for the lemon and the leaves.  And the 1 3/4″ Circle punch is perfect for the lemon slice.

A narrow ribbon and some glitter dots finished the look.
