World Card Making Day is October 5th!

October 2, 2024 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

World Card Making Day is this Saturday, October 5th.  And Stampin’ Up! is celebrating with a free class that day.  The class will feature cards made from the Stampin’ Up! Mix n Match Ephemera packs.  To learn more and sign up for what is sure to be a fun hour of card making, click on the image below:

The card above is one I made a few months ago using the Ephemera packs and card stock. To create this, I decided on a color scheme, Calypso Coral and Garden Green to match the Ephemera pieces I liked the best.  And then I just arranged them until I had a design I liked. The class on Saturday should cover more of this technique and will use the Mix n Match Ephemera packs shown in the main catalog along with the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes.

I hope you can join in. This is an online class presented by Stampin’ Up! and is just a “watch & learn” hour of crafting with the Mix n Match Ephemera. But you never know what else you might learn about Stampin’ Up! during that hour of crafting. I hope you get a chance to sign up and login for the online class!  I am sure they will preview some of the new holiday Mix n Match Ephemera!  And don’t worry if you can’t make it on Saturday, October 5th. The class will be available “On Demand” after October 8th. But you will want to sign up so you are on the list to get the links for the classes.

I have found the Ephemera fun to work with.

More Than Autumn & Pumpkin Spice Season!

September 29, 2024 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

This is a CASE of a card I saw on the Global Design Project.  The card I CASED is by Emma Goddard. She did a bright and cheery card with a donuts theme.  I loved that card, but wanted to do something fall themed, and still use the Nothing’s Better Than Autumn set along with the Art & texture stamp set. You can see Emma’s lovely card HERE

I kept the card simple and used the cup with the marshmallows as my focal point. I will give you a hint on creating the drink cup, I stamp all the items together and then fussy cut the entire image. For me, it is a lot faster than die cutting each image and assembling them. You don’t get as much depth as you would with separate pieces, but I think this works. And it isn’t that much more work. I had to do 12 of these for a swap and it did not even take an hour to stamp and fussy cut all the cups. I dud the same thing with “Pumpkin Spice”. There are die cuts for this in the set, but I liked the look of the fussy cut words just as well and cased that from Emma’s card.

The of Art & Texture is the stamped background. As much as I love graphic stamps, I don’t use them nearly enough. They are a quick way to create interesting backgrounds when you don’t want to use DSP.

Starting Fall With Autumn Leaves

September 15, 2024 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

When I first saw the Iconic Celebrations patterned paper (DSP), I was not that excited about it. But once I sat down with it and started creating cards, I fell in love with it and had to order more!  I created a big batch of seasonal cards with this that will take me from Autumn through to the New Year.  They are all clean, graphic designs like the paper and use a variety of stamp sets.  I will be sharing them over the next several weeks.

Today’s card features the Autumn Leaves set and dies.  It was a favorite set from last year and I was happy to see it carried over. The patterned paper for this set last year was much more ornate than the Iconic Celebrations paper. However, the set works incredibly well with this year’s papers.  I love using the Basic Beige as the core solid card stock instead of white. It doesn’t show up in the photo, but Basic Beige has a wonderfully soft look. White works well too, but if you want a different look, I recommend trying out some of the new Basic Beige paper, ribbons and ink. I think you will like how it looks for the holidays.

For simple, clean patterns, take look at the Iconic Celebrations Suite of products. I think you will love the simplicity of the designs and how easy and fast it is to make holiday cards with this paper.
