So Detailed – Another Pretty Card

February 19, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

So Detailed, Stampin' Up

Its hard not to do a pretty card with the So Detailed suite.  The thinlits are just exquisite and the sentiments simply sweet.  This was a set designed for weddings, I think.  But it really has so much more range.  In this case, I have cut out the frame in Very Vanilla and then used sponge daubers to add in the color.  The card works for a wedding present, a birthday present or any occasion at all.

I had seen several examples on Pinterest of stampers cutting out the So Detailed thinlits in a neutral color and then spinning in the multiple colors.  I think it is a perfect technique to add some range to this particular die cut.  So, give it a try and see what pretty card design you come up with!

Recipe

Papers: Sweet Sugarplum, Soft Suede, Old Olive
Stamps: So In Love
Embellishments: 1/4″ Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon
Tools:So Detailed Thinlits, Big Shot, Sponge Daubers

Beautiful You in Serene Scenery

February 15, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Beautiful You, Stampin' Up!

I’ve been working with the Serene Scenery DSP lately. With this paper, you really need to think outside the box a little.  The paper has so much variety and so many beautiful “photo real” designs. It really invites you to create art pieces in a quick and easy way. I kept going back to this particular paper thinking it would be great with the Beautiful You stamp set.  I love the light behind the leaves. The paper with the stamp design and sentiment seems to convey a sense of hope. This would make a great framed piece as well as a card.  Basic Black matts the card and the design is layered on an Old Olive card base.

This card was very simple and fast. I stamped the design and sentiment in Basic Black.  Then I used the Watercolor Pencils to color in the dress and the hat.  The figure seems to be blending in with the leaves and I really liked that look.  While there are so many great sentimenst to choose from in Beautiful You, I thought this one best fit the mood of the card.  What a great card to send someone who needs some cheering up!

I encourage you to try a few “outside the box” ideas with Serene Scenery!

Hey Chick in Serene Scenery

February 13, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Hey, Chick, Serene Scenery, Stampin' Up!

This card was a result of trying to do something with the Hey, Chick set and the barnyard design from Serene Scenery DSP.  I thought thr barn wood background was perfect for the chicken stamp in Hey, Chick!  This is a really great stamp set that is free during Sale-A-Bration and was my first pick among the many great stamp sets available.

All the DSP shown is from Serene Scenery.  I stamped the chicken and the cute little egg  in Early Espresso on a patterned paper and then fussy cut so they could be layered on the barn wood design.  I felt like the egg needed eyes and a tuft of hair and that was added using a black Stampin’ Write marker.  Everything was layered on Soft Suede. Once I had everything together, I felt it needed a little something more and I wrapped the linen thread around the top of the center piece and tied a bow!

I needed a “thank you” card and felt like this would be a great one.  On the inside, I stamped the little egg again and added eyes and a tuft of hair.  When I went looking for an inside sentiment, I found a fabulous one in a retired set called Greatest Greetings.  It was the perfect finish to this little card.

Hey, Chick, Greatest Greetings, Serene Scenery, Stampin' Up!
