A Grouping of Flowers for #GDP048

August 10, 2016 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Jar of Love, Thoughtful Branches, Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP

This weeks Global Design Project challenge is ” CASE the designer” Tanja Kolar.  Since we have a pretty liberal requirement on this challenge, what I chose is her grouping of objects as a focal point. Tanja uses balloons. I am using flowers.  And because I really love how Watermelon Wonder plays off Crumb Cake, I made that the color story for my “CASE” of Tanja’s card.

My card isn’t the only one CASEd from Tanja’s.  Check out the others for this challenge at #GDP048 by clicking here! Or on the icon below.

This card design is for someone who doesn’t mind the challenge of stamping and cutting out a total of 10 die cuts! Intricate designs using dies cuts isn’t for everyone. But for me, I really love stamping & cutting out more pieces than I need and then “arranging” them much like a floral designer would in a vase. I have done quite a few cards using this technique and blogged about doing flowers like this before. I always say that your cheapest commodities in good stamping are paper, ink and patience! And don’t be afraid to use all 3 when designing a multi layer card.

Well, that is my take on this week’s challenge.  An you should try it too!  This is a fabulous challenge with stampers from all over the world.

Recipe

Papers: Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP, Crumb Cake, Watermelon Wonder, Sahara Sand
Stamps: Jar of Love, Thoughtful Branches
Embellishments: Watermelon Wonder 5/8″ Mini Stripe Ribbon
Tools: Every Day Jars Framelits, Layering Squares Framelits, Big Shot

Affectionately Yours DSP Just for Jayne!

Love & Affection, Affectionately Yours DSP, Stampin Up

This card was inspired by a card my friend Jayne was trying to do for a workshop. We were all at at all day crop and everyone was giving suggestions on how to use this DSP.  As much as I love this suite, I really have had a challenge myself coming up with ideas for the beautiful paper and stamps.  Since I knew I had to get a card done, I thought I would give it a whirl.  This one’s for you, Jayne!

I picked out the paper I thought I could work with the best.  And then it occurred to me that with navy, pink, green and yellow are the obvious contrast colors.  I choose Cucumber Crush as the layer and frame color and then chose Daffodil Delight to stamp on because the Cucumber Crush ink would show up.  Then to get a little pink in, I used the Flirty Flamingo Enamel Dots. Not exactly the color, but I think they worked!

I love how the frames came out using the scalloped square framelits in the Layering Squares set. This is a technique I will have to remember.  I got the idea on Pinterest from a pin I apparently did not pin, so I cannot give credit for it.  And  I just got in my Copper Foil paper from the Holiday Occasions and I cannot wait to use that for this DSP!

Recipe

Stamps: Love & Affection, Banners for You
Embellishments: 2016-2017 In Color Enamel Dots, Cucumber Crush Thick Baker’s Twine
Tools: Layering Squared Framelits, Bunch of Banners Framelits, Big Shot
