Oh Hello. Happy Monday!

March 14, 2016 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

I had put off using this little cutie for long enough!  So I thought this would be a great card for a happy hello on a Monday!  The little chick is darling and again, it is all about the balloons this spring.  And how can you have a balloon without a party hat?

The stamps are from the Honeycomb Happiness set in the Sale-A-Bration catalog and are only around until March 31st! The paper is from the “It’s My Party DSP Stack”.  But the paper has one subtle difference.  I wanted to use this Bermuda Blue ribbon from the Occasions catalog.  So, I added in Bermuda Blue dots on the paper with a Stampin’ Write marker! A good example showing if the paper isn’t exactly what you need, it can be easy to make it your own!

With great patience and dexterity as well as 2 tries on the balloon, I fussy cut the chick and the balloon.  The party hat is actually a scrap from the flip side of the background paper. How lucky is that?  I just strategically cut to the star on the paper!!!

I used the “Oh Hello” sentiment from the set, but this card and stamp set would work for birthdays, Easter or even as a thank you with just a change of sentiment. So get stampin’ with this little guy and have some fun!

Vintage with Typeset DSP

March 5, 2016 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Vintage, Typeset DSP, Stampin' Up

I created a  card this past week for Global Design Project  Tuesday that featured the Typeset Specialty DSP and these colors. (You can see the card HERE!).  Because I hadn’t used this DSP in so long and because I absolutely fell in love with this color combo, I just had to try another design.

I love the vintage and artistic look of this DSP.  So I knew the stamp set had to be Awesomely Artistic. The grid paper design “lives” with the Basic Gray and Smoky Slate very well.  I choose Daffodil Delight for the pop color because I wanted to use the GDP Color Challenge.  But with a design like this, you have many options. I could see a pink shade or a green with this.

My design process usually involves picking out a DSP(patterned paper) I like and then coming up with a design around that.  The design or patterned paper usually dictates the color scheme. But with a paper like Typeset, you can build whatever color story you want on it.

I encourage you to get out your Typeset Specialty DSP and try something vintage…I know you have a pack laying around somewhere!  Don’t we all?

Paper Pumpkin Gifts!

March 3, 2016 Filed Under: Project Gallery

I absolutely loved the February Paper Pumpkin!  The kit helped me learn a whole new type of design and learn to use a few images as a focal point to design a really nice card.  I was so happy with my work that I decided to create boxed sets of these cards to give away as gifts.  I happened to make all of the cards in the kit as Thank You cards.  I felt like for a gift of cards Thank You and Happy Birthday are the most versatile.  You can get these great little plastic cases from Clearbags.com. They also have the elastic cording you can use to make the gift look a little more special without hiding the contents.  Although I think some Stampin’ Up ribbon would have looked fine too.

If you haven’t tried Paper Pumpkin, I highly recommend it!  Yes, the projects are simple.  But sometimes you just need to sit down and stamp a while without having to struggle with ideas or design.  Paper Pumpkin is great for that.  I am also amazed at all the things people think of for alternate uses for their Paper Pumpkin kits!  Check out Pinterest for many, many ideas.
