Just one more merry today.  I just love the Christmas Greetings thinlets and you will see them on every one of my “Quick and Easy” card series.  This also uses one of my favorite stamp sets from the Holiday Occasions: Lots of Joy.

This is a good card design if you have to make a lot of cards. The punches and thinlets make production of multiples of this card very fast.  And I love that the Merry Moments DSP came in both a 12×12 pack as well as a 6×6 paper stack.  You wouldn’t think you would need both, but it has come in surprisingly handy this year. The tiny Old Olive layers were punched and then trimmed to show only on one side.  I felt like I needed one more small pop of color.  But it would have worked fine without it.

So, a very quick and easy card design.  It is also a great idea for using multiple designs of DSP.  You can make solid color base layers and the decorative pieces in the red colors to match the odds and ends of DSP you have and use up all those small pieces!  So mix it up and try Real Red, Cherry Cobbler and maybe the Crumb Cake layer changes to Old Olive.  There are a lot of possibilities.  Have fun!

Merry, So Very – GDP013 – A Quick and Easy Card!

And I do mean merry when I saw this morning’s challenge!  Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand and a red and green are my “go to” colors for holiday cards.  And when I saw the lucky 13 Global Design Challenge – GDP013, I felt merry and lucky!  I had just done a series of 4 cards in those general colors a couple of weeks ago so I could highlight quick and easy designs the first 2 weeks of December. We are all short of time and I appreciate any ideas to help get last minute cards done!  And I was so delighted I had them done today!  For the GDP013, I am submitting a really fast to make and colorful card for the holidays.

My card today uses the challenge colors of Real Red, Crumb Cake and Old Olive. With the Season of Cheer DSP I chose, I had to get creative to make the Crumb Cake work.  I took the very talented Brian King’s idea of coloring your DSP(see his card “Magic of the Season” here) and did just that with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write marker on the tops of the ornaments.  I am not sure it made a world of difference, but I like to think it did! I experimented with coloring in the blue ornaments with Crumb Cake but alas,  that was not a great idea.  The red dots on the banner are White Perfect Accents colored with a red Sharpie. I liked the shine on these better than a Candy Dot.  Enjoy today’s fast & easy card and see what everyone is doing over at the Global Design Project!
