Gather Together for A Fabulous Fall Season!

August 20, 2019 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Gather TogetherI thought I was going to wait a couple more weeks before I started showing some of the new Holiday Occasions catalog items, but when I opened up this Designer Series Paper, I had to make a card with it right away!  You are getting a sneak peek at the Come To Gather Suite of products in the Holiday Occasions catalog, which I am sure you have by now.

The Designer Series paper in this suite is also called Come to Gather and it is so much more gorgeous in person than the beautiful catalog photographs can show. The colors are luscious and right on trend with a mix of light and dark colors that will add pop to every card you make.

Today’s card combines Cajun Craze and Pretty Peacock against a bright plaid paper. The big leaf was stamped with Gather Together stamp set. And the Gather Leaves dies created the embossed leaves in the solid color. On the Crumb Cake background, I used the Swirly Frames stamp to frame in the design. And then a simple die cut of the sentiment. A very easy to make card with lots of pop!

Ordering starts September 4th! This is going to be a great holiday season!

Glittery Fun With Feels Like Frost Suite

August 15, 2019 Filed Under: Project Gallery

Feels Like Frost

The Holiday Occasions arrived in the mail today! I always put myself on the mailing list so I get a catalog at the same time as customers. So, if you are on my mailing list, its on the way! if you are not on my mailing list and you would like to be, please e-mail me and I will make sure you join this party! Because today we are looking at one of the stars of the catalog, the Feels Like Frost Suite.

The “Feels Like Frost Suite” is one of my must haves from this catalog. I almost never like any holiday set that isn’t red and green and has some plaid. But the Designer Series Paper in this suite really caught my eye. And today I am giving you a sneak peek of this new suite of products. Demonstrators were given the opportunity to place orders early. And so I went all in and got the paper and even the Ice Stampin’ Glitter and the Shimmery Crystal Effects. If you are going to “Feel Like Frost”, you can’t do that without some glitter!

Now, I will warn you, glitter is not for the faint of heart. And I am usually not a fan of glitter at all. I prefer to stay with my Wink of Stella pen and have a clean stamp table! But something about the chunky, glitzy Ice Stampin’ Glitter appealed to me. It was the picture below of the glittered snowflake that caught my eye and made me want to try this. Doesn’t that snowflake just scream holiday and snow and all things frosty?

Feels Like Frost

For my card, I covered the edges with the Shimmery Crystal Effects. If you are afraid of glitter, you could just use the Shimmery Crystal Effects. it has a nice,  subtle sparkle. And it is the perfect adhesive to the Ice Stampin’ Glitter. I did experiment with the Tombow glue to adhere the glitter, but it really just clumps the glitter up a bit. It does dry clear, but you will have to be careful to spread only a thin coat of the glue. I think the Shimmery Crystal Effects is perfect with this chunky Ice Stampin’ Glitter. It goes on thin, it doesn’t clump up the glitter and in spots where the glitter doesn’t stick, you still have some sparkle. It is perfect for this!  Plus, you can use this for so many other projects in the holiday catalog to add a little sparkle and shine.  Here is a close up of the final “frosted” design. It really does look like ice.

Feels Like Frost

Another tip I will give you is that the back side of the Feels Like Frost DSP is all silver embossed designs. This is really gorgeous paper. It is a toss up whether the realistic frosted scenes or the embossed metallic silver side is the prettiest. But I will tell you the Silver Embossed side adheres best with the Tombow glue. If you are a SNAIL fan like I am, it tends to peel this beautifully embossed paper, much like it will with papers using embossing folders. So, make sure you experiment to see if you like the tape adhesive or liquid adhesive better for this.  Below are some card samples made with this beautiful paper that are on page 40 in the new Holiday Occasions Catalog. The catalog pictures are beautiful, but really do not do this paper justice.

And did you notice the pretty die cuts for the sentiment. Those are from the new Halloween Suite in the catalog, Monster Bash on page 52! Of all the dies in the new Holiday Occasions catalog, these are the most beautiful. They are perfect for the Monster Bash suite, but they work great for other things as well. Its going to be one of those die sets you reach for many times!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this Sneak Peek of what is coming in the new Holiday Occasions Catalog. Its going to be a fun holiday season and I cannot wait to get crafting!  Ordering starts September 4th!

Pressed Petals for #GDP202

August 12, 2019 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Pressed Petals

This is a quick little card using Pressed Petals DSP for the Global Design Project’s sketch project #GDP202. I needed a little inspiration today and a challenge was just the thing to get me started.

I was really keen on using the Pressed Petals DSP for this project. Mostly because I started out with a stamped image from the Slice of Happiness set and I was determined Pressed Petals would be perfect for it. But after a few tries, that idea went no where!

So, I figured I would just stay true to the challenge’s sketch design and still use the Pressed Petals paper. This simple little card is what I came up with. I immediately like the border I could create at the bottom that matched the background paper. And because I was going after a “vintage-country” look, using the Corrugated Embossing folder was the perfect backdrop. I kept it simple and resisted the order to add some punched daisies and leaves! Overall, I liked how it came out.

Its early in the week to see many ideas, but bookmark the Global Design Project’s page to visit in a few days or click on the image below to see lots of great ideas the designers did for this challenge and scroll through the other challenged. And I encourage you to try a challenge! They are a great source of inspiration and ideas.
