A Cute Hello There with Pieces & Patterns

August 25, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Pieces & Patterns, STAMPIN' UP!

Today’s card is another little cutie from the Pick A Pattern DSP and Pieces & Patterns Stamp set.  I don’t usually like whimsical stamps, but I loved the Mushrooms I showed on Wednesday(You can see that HERE!) and I love, love, love these Dinosaurs!  They are whimsical and fun without looking too juvenile.  I would be fine with sending this card to anyone.

The bright look of the card was easy to follow using the colors in the DSP.  I layered an Emerald Envy plaid pattern on Crushed Curry.  Basic Black once again makes the perfect backdrop to pop all the colors.  In fact, I think this entire product suite works well with Basic Black as the base layer.  And adding black as a base layer makes the design a little more sophisticated than the usual cards you would make for a child.

A Stitched Shape circle framelit was the base for the stamped sentiment.  I cropped a really large border so I would have room for the Mastadon.  And how often do you have to worry about making room for your Mastadon when stamping? As I said, this suite of products is a lot of fun!

Pieces & Patterns with Mushrooms

August 23, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Pieces & Patterns Mushroom Patch, STAMPIN' UP! I  had a great time playing with Pieces & Patterns the last few days.  This set is unique for Stampin’ Up and I love the versatility of the artwork and sentiments.  And the matching DSP has choices in graphic, floral, whimsical and black & white patterns.  This DSP has some of the most versatile patterns I have ever found.  What I like about this entire suite is that it encourages you to think outside the box when designing cards.  And I like a good challenge!  Take a look at the beautiful images from this delightful suite of products.  The image below shows you how many looks you can create with this darling little stamp set. PICK A PATTERN SUITE, PICK A PATTERN DSP, STAMPIN' UP!

Today’s card uses the mushrooms from the DSP.  I love using mushroom motifs and these are really well done.  I love the simple graphic design and the touch of color. I used one of the graphic patterns from this DSP to play against the mushroom artwork and layered everything on black for a clean look that pops.  I love a bow but the Basic Black And Crushed Curry alone did not work. So, I tied them both together for a double bow that worked to finish the card.

Eclipse and Colorful Seasons

August 21, 2017 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Colorful Seasons, Memories & More Color Theory, STAMPIN' UP!, Color Theory DSP

Today’s card is my eclipse card!  This is such a big deal around here, I had to do something special! I recalled there were some great “sun” things in the Memories & More Color Theory Card Pack, which was perfect because I wanted to use the Colorful Seasons set for the sentiment and stamps. Those items and some copper metallic embellishments were all I needed to make a card commemorating this once in a lifetime event.

The chair was made using the stamps and a card from the Memories & More Card Pack.  I loved the stripe and it had the right colors for the card. I stamped the image on a sticky note and then positioned the sticky note on the striped card and fussy cut the paper to make my “striped chair”. It fit perfectly with the Crushed Curry Sun and the Berry Burst card base!

I ‘eclipsed” the sentiment by applying versa mark to just half the sentiment.  (Easy to do with your Misti!)  And then used Copper Embossing Powder to make my “eclipsed” sentiment.  Then I just added some Copper Trim and layered it on a piece of Copper Foil paper.  Simple and easy.  But I will admit at this point, I should have positioned the card landscape.  Then my chair would be facing the sun!  But oh well, haven’t we all been there at the finish of a card!  And I had only the one card to use, so I had to make myself happy with this and I am.

This card captures perfectly what I want to do at the moment of the eclipse.  Just sit back in my lawn chair, just breathe and take it all in.  I will be watching with some others from a great vantage point on a hill overlooking Manchester Missouri.   All I have to do is just lug my lawn chair up there and watch.  I have my eclipse glasses and will be ready to go.  Now all we need are clear skies!  In this area, which is to the south and east of St  Louis proper, we should have about a minute and a half of totality.  Happy “eclipsing” everyone!

If you want to see a great video illustrating what the total eclipse should look like, see this video the Weather Channel made HERE!
