Wonderful Rose Wonder

These wonderful In Color cards were created using the Rose Wonder set and Rose Garden Thinlits. The idea was to showcase a few of the new In Colors, which I am loving more and more each time I use them! The card is super simple with just a cutout, sentiment and the fabulous matching ruched ribbon trim.

These were quick and easy cards that I submitted for a swap to showcase new catalog products.  Whenever I do a swap with other Stampin Up Demonstrators for a new catalog, I try to think of things that are useful to show.  Showcasing the new In Color card stock  and accessories are important because new In Colors cause a lot of excitement.  And the elegant new ruched ribbon makes these new In Colors simply irresistible!

I matched the background paper to what I thought looked best.  I really wanted to stay away from white and try out unexpected backgrounds.  But the white ended up being the best with the Peekaboo Peach.  I used Saraha Sand with the Emerald Envy and Crumb Cake with the Dapper Denim.

So, there you have it! Quick, simple cards that show off the new In Colors in a bold and irresistible way!

Love this Card – A LOT! #GDP041

This is my entry for Global Design Project, #GDP041. And I flat out love, love, love it! The challenge this week is color. Once I found the paper I wanted to use, I literally just sat down and made this card!  It usually doesn’t come that easy to me.  But in this case, I pulled the Grateful Bunch set off the shelf and the card just seemed to stamp itself!  I love polka dots and this DSP is a real cutie!  I also love the new enamel shapes.  I intended to use them only for the center of the flowers, but adding the heart is an unexpected touch that works well with the sentiment.

The Design Team came up with some spectacular projects using these colors.  At first, I wasn’t that crazy about the color scheme. Yet when this card was done, I thought it was genus! Kudos to the GDP Team for coming up with this. Well done you all!

Pineapple VIntage

Before I started using Stampin’ Up! product exclusively, I did very artsy, vintage cards with lots of layers, using stamps, papers and any ephemera I could find.  I liked doing this type of card making, but the trouble was I didn’t always know what I had in paper or ink supplies and my stamps were all thrown in a drawer hodge lodge.  And in a way that limited me to artsy, vintage looking cards with lots of bric-a-brac and layers.

When I started using Stampin’ Up, things changed in so many ways!  And all for the better.  My stamping style became more varied and I learned to love clean, modern design.  But every now and then I like to go back to the artsy, messy style I started with.  And that is the really great thing about using Stampin Up exclusively!  I can go vintage, layered, artsy and messy any time! There are so many choices to stamp whatever style you want.  And since I really don’t have a “signature style” of stamping, it is nice to know I can let my imagination take me anywhere I want to go!

When I saw the Pineapple stamp, I knew a vintage look was what I wanted to do.  The stamp is just “too perfect”, which really isn’t a problem.  But I wanted it to look like a real pineapple. Not a Peekaboo Peach and Emerald Envy pop art version, which would look really cute,  but an actual pineapple.  And vintage seemed the way to go.  And I tried several papers before settling on the Kraft card stock. I also stamped this on a Kraft Tag A Bag, which looked really great and something I will do again for gifts.  The print layer is from the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP.  It is a uniquely textured and colored paper from this DSP set that looks very vintage and matches the tropical look perfectly.  I have to say I went a “little bit” vintage because the card is still clean and easy to read.

I also used the MISTI for this stamp.  The MISTI is absolutely perfect to get one color of top and another bottom.  Just use masking to cover the areas you don’t want to ink up and you get a perfect pineapple every time!  I tried several techniques with not so good results before I remembered the MISTI and this was the perfect solution.
