Spooky Stuff!

I am certainly not the first card maker to take this stripe paper from the new Happy Haunting DSP and put the Spider Web Doily on it! I mean, who can resist that Tangelo Twist stripe paper for Halloween? Certainly not me!  I did my own take by using the Gold Metallic Doily to frame the sentiment. The stamp is designed to go with the 2″ circle punch, but to my shock and surprise, that is one punch I don’t have. So, being the professional stamper I am, I opted for the large oval and think that worked nicely.  Plus it helped make my card seem more original!  I used the “eyes” from the stamp set, but had to add eyeballs with a Stampin’ Write black marker.  You don’t have to do that, it just seemed to me I needed it. So, here’s my first Halloween card for the year. And certainly my first Halloween card ever with so many doilies on it! Who knew doilies could be so haunting?

Inks: Black Archival)or Staz On
Stamp Set: Among The Branches
Accessories: Large Oval Punch, Black Stampin’ Write Marker
Embellishments: Spider Web Doilies, 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon, Metallic Foil Doilies


Pretty Petals DSP is My Favorite!

I did a fast card last night with the Pretty Petals.  It had to be fast!  With that storm coming in I thought we were going to lose power!!!  This is a quick and easy 5 minute card with my absolute favorite paper from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack.  I love, love, love the new paper stacks.  They are small, easy to store and perfect if you are a card maker.  Much easier than 12×12 paper. I hope this is something Stampin’ Up! plans to do more of. The sentiment fit perfectly on a 2″ wide piece of card stock, so using the Scalloped Tag Punch to frame it was perfect!

Cardstock: Pretty Petals DSP Stack, Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Very Vanilla
Ink: Archival Black
Stamps: Pretty Thankful
Accessories: Scalloped Tag Punch
Embellishments: Very Vintage Designer Buttons in Vanilla, Gold Metallic Thread


The Open Sea, again?

You may have seen this post and are wondering. “Why the repeat?”  I have been having trouble with e-mails going out to those of you who signed up for my posts.  This is a test to make sure you got an e-mail today, August 4th.  If you did and have time to comment and let me know, I would be ever so grateful! If we have fixed the problem, I will post on! I have a great new card with lots of sparkle to show tomorrow…if I can find my Bracket Label punch!  Thanks for looking everyone!

You will find I like a lot of nautical and beach designs.  This one was inspired by an e-mail I got from Oriental Trading. They had a red, white and blue nautical card shown and I thought, “how simple and how great!”  This is my version of a “red, white & blue” nautical themed card!  I think it came out pretty well. A great card for a birthday, congratulations, or any sort of occasions where some positive reinforcement is needed!
