One of my favorite stamp sets in the Holiday Occasions catalog is Playful Penguins. I love it as much for the penguins as I do for the sentiments in a wonderful script font. This stamp set has a realistic look to the penguins but comes with a scarf and Santa hat so you can make them a bit more whimsical as you can see in the sample card from Stampin’ Up! below.

I chose an “all blue” look for these penguins so it matched well with the Feels Like Frost paper design I chose. The Penguins were stamped in Night of Navy. I also added some of the Ice Stampin’ Glitter along the bottom so the penguins would feel right at home on icy ground!  The design was cut out with a Stitched Rectangles die so I would have a nice decorative border. The sentiment was stamped directly on the DSP.

Then I mounted the stamped DSP on a piece of Sparkle Glimmer Paper. And that was tied up in a bow with the beautiful Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon and mounted on a piece of Night of Navy card stock. The blues gave the card a frost, cold look I really liked.

It’s the second day of the 2019 Holiday Occasions season! And I am still obsessing over the Feels Like Frost DSP! This will be the third card I have shared and I still have a lot more ideas I haven’t even tried with this paper. With one side a beautiful photo real winter scene and the other side a silver metallic embossed design, what’s not to obsess about!

Today’s card is just a simple winter themed “Thinking of You” design. For some added sparkle, I used the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, which is the best way to glitter. This was added to the trees and the sunspots and really adds some sparkle and shine in a subtle way. I also added strands of the Silver Metallic Thread under the sentiment for a little more sparkle. The paper is framed in Highland Heather and Purple Posy.  The sentiment comes from the Playful Peguins set and I stamped it on the Purple Posy and die cut using a frame from the Lakeside dies. I cut another frame in Highland Heather and used that to set off the sentiment. It’s a small detail, but it really makes the sentiment stand out.

Well, Labor Day officially marked the end of summer and the start of fall! And now is the time for some fall themed cards. Today’s design could be a birthday, a thinking of you, thank you or any special occasion card simply by changing the sentiment. The inspiration for this card was the Designer Series Paper from the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper.  I loved that this particular design had a vintage look and matched back to merlot and wanted to try something with it.

Because Merry Merlot is named after a wine and the “vintage” look of the paper,  the grapes from Slice of Happiness seemed the obvious choice for the stamp! I stamped them in Merry Merlot and Mossy Meadow on Thick Whisper White and then die cut with one of the Stitched Nested Label Dies.  It was easy to create a stitched banner by cutting off one end and using a straight stitched die to finish it off.

Then, it was a simple matter of adding a bow at the top with some Braided Linen and another banner for the sentiment. It is a very simple, easy card to do. The perfect fall card!
