Thoughts with Woven Threads

March 12, 2020 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

We have so many beautiful DesignerPapers in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and I just love the Woven Threads DSP. I think I love it because the designs are so faded and soft. Sort of like antique drapes or upholstery.  I think I also love it because it coordinates perfectly with the newest set of In Colors. And this design that highlights Seaside Spray and Rocco Rose is a special favorite.

This card was for my monthly Demonstrator Group challenge. I wish we had a blog hop so everyone’s designs could be shared. Each month we set a general theme and the cards are fabulous. I think I will ask next month if I can post them all on my blog. Trust me, it will be a treat for you to see all the wonderful creations!

This month, the theme was “Thinking of You”. We try to create designs that feature the product well and that we think will inspire our customers to create. And we try to include a little technique. For example, I used a frame from the Lakeside die set for the sentiment and backed it with a rectangle of DSP, just to give it a different look. Its a simple layering technique that requires only your paper trimmer! But it can really set off a sentiment.

I used the Forever Blossoms set from the Parisian Blossoms Suite in the January-June Mini Catalog. It was a perfect fit for the paper. Paris is famous for its street markets where many fashion designers look for antique and vintage linens and fabrics as inspiration for prints. I can imagine this DSP being created from some of those finds.

So, take a look at the Woven Heirlooms Threads Suite and create your own special Heirloom!

Honey Bee For #GDP230

March 4, 2020 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

Today’s card is for the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP230, which is a sketch challenge. I have had this idea for a card using Honey Bee, but I was never motivated to actually do it until I saw my e-mail about the challenge. When I saw the sketch, I thought the idea could really work for this challenge! To see the challenge and the great cards others are doing, check out the #GDP230 Sketch Challenge by clicking on the image below.

For this card, I wanted a bit of a vintage look using crumb cake and another color. Well, since it all about the bees, Crush Curry was an obvious choice for my pop color. I was going to use a plain card stock for the background, but I went through my DSP swatch books just to see if something would work and found the perfect pattern in the Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP. I thought it worked much better than plain card stock.

I had to add a bow, so I made that simple with just some linen thread. And at the end, I decided to color in the yellow flowers and the bees wings with Wink of Stella. It doesn’t show up in the photo I took, but it was a perfect touch to add some subtle glitter.

Topical Oasis and Sunshine

February 28, 2020 Filed Under: Gallery, Project Gallery

When you need a card and need it fast, I have to recommend Designer Series Paper(DSP) and a Memories & More Card Pack!  This quick and easy card was done with a card from the Tropical Oasis Memories & More card pack I saw, loved and had to make a card with!  I combined it with the matching DSP and some card stock and I have a card!

The Memories & More Card Packs are full of great cards you can use for card making or memory keeping and lots of other paper crafting. Stampin’ Up! offers them with select DSP and I away make sure I get them. Along with the great cards, there are usually matching stickers. And what fun those are!

The assemblage at the bottom is layered on a piece of the whisper white flax that has been colored using a Mango Melody Stamping Blend. I love coloring ribbon using a Stampin’ Blend. The color goes on quickly and it the ink dried fast. You could also color using a Stampin’ Spot. I just find the Stampin’ Blends are fast and you can control color by starting with the light Stampin’ Blend and adding a second coat if you need it. And if that doesn’t work, add a layer with the Dark Stampin’ Blend in the color you want to create on the ribbon. It is a great way to customize a card design or project.
