Today’s card features not only items from the Woven Heirlooms set, but it is a challenge card for #GDP197!
Every now and then a Color Challenge will come up at Global Design Project and I wonder, “who thinks of these color combinations?” At first glance, they may seem too much of a challenge, but I am always impressed and love the challenge of making something work with them.

When I have a difficult Color Challenge like this, the first place I start is Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers. These beautiful papers are perfectly matched back to all my Stampin’ Up! papers and inks, so it is likely I will find a paper to get me started. To aid with DSP as my inspiration, I am lucky to have sample books for every set of current Stampin’ Up! DSP. Having a sampler makes it so easy to research colors and plan out a design. If you want one of the best sampler sets, check This One out. They are not available all the time, but you can at least get yourself on a list to be notified when they do become available.
After looking at all the color possibilities in my DSP sampler books, I settled on one from the Woven Threads DSP. It had the Seaside Spray I needed and a touch of Terracotta Tile. I decided Pear Pizzaz would be the base color, Terracotta Tile the accent color and Seaside Spray the background color. I love the sentiments from the Woven Heirlooms set and stamped one of them in Basic Gray as the black was too harsh for this color scheme. The sentiment was die cut with a Stitched Circle and banners behind the sentiment reinforced the color combination. Nobody was more shocked than me, but I thought it came out great!
